Certified Specialist in Orthodontics

Welcome

Mission Statement

As the only certified orthodontic practice in the West Kootenay, our practice is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for all ages in a warm, professional atmosphere. The goal of our highly educated team is to blend innovation with advanced skills to create healthy, natural smiles.

Your First Visit

At the first visit to the orthodontist, Dr. Bibby will assess your medical and dental history, discuss your concerns, and examine your teeth and bite to determine if you would benefit from orthodontic treatment. If so, we will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan and give you all the details of the costs involved. At the first visit, any indicated orthodontic records are taken to ensure a complete diagnosis and to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include study models of the teeth, photos of the patient's face and teeth, and X-ray images of the teeth and jaws. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.

Regular Appointments

The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes from one to two hours. You’ll then see us at regular intervals six to ten weeks apart for adjustment visits, which take 20 to 40 minutes. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately so we may offer the appointment time to another patient. Cancel only if it is necessary and please consider that it may be difficult to reschedule, since most appointments are made six to ten weeks in advance.

Fees

The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient’s problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options at the initial appointment before treatment begins. We have payment options to suit different budgets and are able to spread the payments over the course of the treatment, with no interest fees. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable. In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:

For your convenience, we accept payment in the office by cash, debit card, personal cheque, or credit card (VISA and Mastercard). Upon the start of treatment, we accept personal post-dated cheques, or VISA/Mastercard for setting up monthly payments to cover the contract charges.

There are no service charges, administration fees, or interest fees incorporated into the treatment fees.

Insurance

If you have coverage for orthodontics through your employer, we also suggest you familiarize yourself with your insurance plan(s), and its coverage and financial limits prior to your initial visit. Although we do not bill insurance companies directly, we will be happy to provide you with the necessary insurance company papers and provide pre-authorization forms or treatment plans where necessary. If you do not have orthodontic insurance coverage, or for any treatment fees not covered through insurance, please keep your receipts to claim for income tax purposes.
